Designed as a high-sensitivity gamma-ray observatory, the Fermi Large Area Telescope is also an electron detector with a large acceptance exceeding 2 m;{2} sr at 300 GeV. Building on the gamma-ray analysis, we have developed an efficient electron detection strategy which provides sufficient background rejection for measurement of the steeply falling electron spectrum up to 1 TeV. Our high precision data show that the electron spectrum falls with energy as E-3.

Energetic young pulsars and expanding blast waves [supernova remnants (SNRs)] are the most visible remains after massive stars, ending their lives, explode in core-collapse supernovae. The Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope has unveiled a radio quiet pulsar located near the center of the compact synchrotron nebula inside the supernova remnant CTA 1. One of the great mysteries of the high-energy gamma-ray sky is the group of approximately 170 unidentified point sources found along the Galactic plane. They are more numerous than all other high-energy gamma-ray sources combined and, despite 20 years of effort, no clear counterparts have been found at other wavelengths. Here we report a new population of such objects.

A case report is presented in which an initial bone scan in a patient with Burkitt's lymphoma of the jaw was negative, with radiographic and subsequent biopsy proof of bone involvement. Follow-up scans after chemotherapy demonstrated increased activity in the jaw, presumably indicating interval healing.

Eleven patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria were studied by serial liver imaging. This disease has a generalized thrombotic tendency, and progressive diffuse hepatic venous thrombosis has been emphasized in recent studies. Radionuclide imaging proved to be of great help in establishing the diagnosis of hepatic venous thrombosis and following the progress of the disease process.
