Importance: Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common cause of vaginal infection. First-line treatments of BV are metronidazole and clindamycin. Due to the increase in antibiotic resistance, effective nonantibiotic treatments for BV are needed.

Umbilical cord blood (UCB) consists of cycling and non-cycling CD34+/CD45low cells needed for long-term and short-term engraftment. After sorting and subsequent in vitro culture, quiescent HSCs enter the cell cycle.

Vitamin D-binding protein and lactoferrin concentrations were measured by ELISA in plasma and peritoneal fluid samples from 95 women with suspected endometriosis as classified by laparoscopy into groups with (n = 59) and without endometriosis (n = 36). There were no differences ( > 0.

Previous studies have shown that metadherin (MTDH) promotes breast cancer initiation, metastasis and therapy resistance; however, the therapeutic potential of targeting MTDH remains largely unexplored. Here, we used genetically modified mice and demonstrate that genetic ablation of Mtdh inhibits breast cancer development through disrupting the interaction with staphylococcal nuclease domain-containing 1 (SND1), which is required to sustain breast cancer progression in established tumors.

Nevertheless, the high excess of white blood cells (WBC) of DLA products remains a major challenge for further downstream CTC enrichment and detection. To address this problem, we tested the performance of two label-free CTC technologies for processing DLA products.

We investigate the influence of the chemical composition of material extractives on microbial growth and community dynamics on 30 different wood species that were naturally inoculated, wetted, and held at high humidity for several weeks. Microbial growth was assessed by visual assessment and molecular sequencing.

Design: Prospective observational cohort study.
Setting: Level III neonatal centre.
Following publication of the original article [1], the authors reported that additional file 10 contained a typing error in the table "Percentage of responders (≥50% max TOTPAR) over two, four, six and eight hours (single-dose phase) (ITT Population)". The table is to be read as follows.

Methods: Randomised, double-blind, parallel, placebo and active-controlled, single and multiple-dose study to evaluate the analgesic efficacy and safety of dexketoprofen/tramadol 25 mg/75 mg in comparison with the single agents (dexketoprofen 25 mg and tramadol 100 mg) in moderate to severe acute pain after abdominal hysterectomy. Patients received seven consecutive doses of study drug within a 3-day period, each dose separated by an 8-hour interval.
Background: Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are promising surrogate markers for systemic disease, and their molecular characterization might be relevant to guide more individualized cancer therapies. To enable fast and efficient purification of individual CTCs, we developed a work flow from CellSearch(TM) cartridges enabling high-resolution genomic profiling on the single-cell level.
Methods: Single CTCs were sorted from 40 CellSearch samples from patients with metastatic breast cancer using a MoFlo XDP cell sorter.
The synthetic estrogen ethinylestradiol (EE2) is an active component of oral contraceptives (OCs), considered as an endocrine disrupting compound (EDC). It is excreted from humans and released via sewage treatment plant effluents into aquatic environments. EDCs are any environmental pollutant chemical that, once incorporated into an organism, affects the hormonal balance of various species including humans.

The assay utilizes a combination of three enzymes: cholesterol esterase (ChE), cholesterol oxidase (ChOx) and peroxidase (HRP); which were co-immobilizing on a rotatory disk. The method is developed by the use of a glassy carbon electrode as detector versus Ag/AgCl/3M NaCl in conjunction with a soluble-redox mediator 4-tert-butylcatechol (TBC).
