Materials And Methods: A cohort of 125 patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage IA2 to IIA cervical cancer who had preoperative MRI and underwent radical hysterectomy were enrolled and analyzed. The accuracy of preoperative MRI scan and pelvic examination in the measurement of tumor size was assessed based on postoperative measurement and pathologic findings.

This study aims to evaluate the intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility of the tophus urate volume, erosion volume, and the erosion score measurements in patients with gout by using dual-energy CT (DECT) scans comparing their bone erosion volumes against bone erosion scores and also to determine a valid measure of joint destruction in chronic gout. Sixty-six subjects underwent DECT scans of the hands or feet. Two independent observers measured the tophus urate volumes and bone erosion volumes using automated volume assessment software and the erosion scores based on the rheumatoid arthritis magnetic resonance imaging score (RAMRIS).

High-fat diet (HFD) feeding causes ghrelin resistance in arcuate neuropeptide Y (NPY)/Agouti-related peptide neurons. In the current study, we investigated the time course over which this occurs and the mechanisms responsible for ghrelin resistance. After 3 weeks of HFD feeding, neither peripheral nor central ghrelin increased food intake and or activated NPY neurons as demonstrated by a lack of Fos immunoreactivity or whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology.

In this study, the expression of neural precursor cell expressed developmentally downregulated 9 (NEDD9) in benign and malignant gastric tissues was investigated, and the significance of NEDD9 in gastric cancer prognosis was explored. In this study we examined fasted and refed cfos activation in cortical, brainstem, and hypothalamic brain regions associated with appetite regulation. We examined a number of time points during refeeding to gain insight into the temporal pattern of neuronal activation and changes in endocrine parameters associated with fasting and refeeding. In response to refeeding, blood glucose and plasma insulin returned to basal levels within 30 minutes, whereas plasma nonesterified fatty acids and leptin returned to basal levels after 1 and 2 hours, respectively.

A novel bio-inspired Pt- and FTO-free integrated pure carbon counter electrode (CE) for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) has been designed and fabricated using a porous carbon sheet as a conducting substrate and ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) as the catalytic layer. A rigid, crustose lichen-like, integrated carbon-carbon composite architecture with a catalytic layer rooted in a porous conducting substrate was formed by a process of polymer precursor spin coating, infiltration and pyrolysis. The integrated pure carbon CE shows very low series resistance (R(s)), owing to the high conductivity of the carbon sheet (sheet resistance of 488 mΩ □(-1)) and low charge-transfer resistance (R(ct)), due to the large specific surface area of the OMC layer that is accessible to the redox couple.

Novel chiral core-shell silica microspheres with trans-(1R,2R)-diaminocyclohexane (DACH) moiety bridged in the mesoporous shell were synthesized using layer-by-layer method. The chiral mesoporous shell around the nonporous silica core was formed by the co-condensation of N,N'-bis-[(triethoxysilyl)propyl]-trans-(1R,2R)-bis-(ureido)-cyclohexane (DACH-BS) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) using octadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (C18TMACl) and triblock poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(propylene oxide)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) copolymer (P123) as the templates. The functionalized core-shell silica microspheres were characterized and tested as chiral stationary phases for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

In this study, we investigated six stereomeric peptoid chiral stationary phases (CSPs) successively combining N'-phenyl-proline amide, α-phenylethyl amine, 2-aminocyclohexyl phenylcarbamate and another α-phenylethyl amine under normal phase mode. CSPs 1-4 with R-S-(R,R)-S, R-S-(S,S)-S, R-R-(R,R)-R and R-R-(S,S)-R configuration exhibited much different enantiorecognition abilities. Overall, CSPs 1 and 2 performed better for the 55 analytes tested.

A new chiral (Rs)-2-phenyl-2-propyl sulfinamide has been designed and synthesized; its derived aldimines and ketimines have been applied for asymmetric addition reaction with allylmagnesium bromide. The reaction was conveniently performed at room temperature to give a series of homoallylic amines in high yields (up to quant) and diastereoselectivity (up to >99% de). The pure products were obtained by relying on group-assisted purification (GAP) chemistry to avoid traditional purification methods of column chromatography or recrystallization.

We report on a sensitive, simple, label-free cell-based electrochemical sensor to monitor the toxic effect of acrylamide on the Pheochromocytoma cells. Based on chiral N-(1-phenylethyl) glycines, a series of peptoid chiral stationary phases (CSPs) terminated with achiral alkyl group (diisopropyl, t-butyl or n-butyl) and varied in absolute configuration of selector were investigated with nine axially chiral analytes. It is very interesting to observe that selectors with heterogeneous configuration form, such as S-R-R, S-R-S, S-S-R, generally performed better than S-S-S selectors. Moreover, longer S-R-S-R-S selector did not outperform the S-R-S one obviously, with several separations declined.
