Raised blood pressure (BP) is the leading cause of preventable death in the world. Yet, its global prevalence is increasing, and it remains poorly detected, treated, and controlled in both high- and low-resource settings. From the perspective of members of the International Society of Hypertension based in all regions, we reflect on the past, present, and future of hypertension care, highlighting key challenges and opportunities, which are often region-specific.

Whether the replacement of a biomass cookstove with a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cookstove would result in an increase in birth weight is unclear.
Methods: We performed a randomized, controlled trial involving pregnant women (18 to <35 years of age and at 9 to <20 weeks' gestation as confirmed on ultrasonography) in Guatemala, India, Peru, and Rwanda.
Vascular anomalies encompass a spectrum of tumors and malformations that can cause significant morbidity and mortality in children and adults. Use of the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA) classification system is strongly recommended for consistency. Vascular anomalies can occur in isolation or in association with clinical syndromes that involve complex multifocal lesions affecting different organ systems.

Diphenylamine (DPA) as a stabilizer component plays an important role in maintaining the chemical stability of single-base propellants (SBPs). This work investigated the feasibility of rapidly detecting the content of DPA in SBP by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS). The quantitative NIR model was developed by intervals selection, spectral pretreatment and factor number optimization.

The results showed that the fusion data of the E-nose, E-tongue and colorimeter could contain more information (with a total variance contribution rate of 94.734 %) than that of the independent one.

Methods: Between 2013 and 2019, the study enrolled 233 patients with or without chronic ocular GVHD combined with the presence or absence of systemic chronic GVHD in an internationally prospective multicenter and observational cohort from 9 institutions. All patients were evaluated for four clinical parameters of ICCGVHD.
Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1)-blockade immunotherapies have limited efficacy in the treatment of bladder cancer. Here, we show that NKG2A associates with improved survival and responsiveness to PD-L1 blockade immunotherapy in bladder tumors that have high abundance of CD8 T cells. In bladder tumors, NKG2A is acquired on CD8 T cells later than PD-1 as well as other well-established immune checkpoints.

Unlike desynchronization commonly observed during wakeful movements, beta oscillations (13-35 Hz) synchronized during REM sleep movements; furthermore, high-frequency oscillations (150-350 Hz) synchronized during movement irrespective of sleep-wake states. Our results demonstrate differential engagement of the basal ganglia during REM sleep and awake movements.

In this work, a simple and quick method using natamycin (Nat) as chiral selector has been developed to simultaneously separate chiral AAs and their derivatives of carbobenzoxy/benzyl-AAs (Cbz/Bzl-AAs) by trapped ion mobility spectrometry-mass spectrometry (TIMS-MS). Specifically, 12 groups of the Cbz-AAs and Bzl-AAs can get baseline mobility separation by simple mixing with Nat to form binary diastereomeric complex ions [Nat+(Cbz-D/L-AA)+H] and [Nat+(Bzl-D/L-AA)+H].

Toward patient stratification, we assessed whether tumor immune contexture influenced clinical outcomes after axi-cel. We evaluated the tumor microenvironment (TME) of 135 pre-treatment and post-treatment tumor biopsies taken from 51 patients in the ZUMA-1 phase 2 trial.

However, large-scale, long-term data are lacking.

However, due to the nanoscale effect, nano adsorbents have some crucial shortcomings, such as recycling difficulty and the loss of nanoparticles, which seriously limit their application. The feasible assembly of nano adsorbents is an accessible technology in urgent need of a breakthrough.

Methods: Patients with coma or disorders of consciousness were enrolled from August 2019 to March 2021. A retrospective analysis of demographics, etiology, clinical score, diagnosis, electroencephalography (EEG), and event-related potential (ERP) data from 1 week to 2 months after coma onset was conducted.
Introduction: We aimed to characterize the clinical impact of amyloid PET (APET) in a veteran population with cognitive decline by comparing differences in management between those who did and did not have an APET.
Methods: This was a retrospective observational study. Poisson regressions and logistic regression were used for comparisons.
Aim: To evaluate ventricular synchronization and function in patients with right bundle-branch block after left bundle-branch-area pacing (LBBAP) by echocardiography.
Methods: Forty patients who successfully received LBBAP were selected and divided into the right bundle-branch block group (RBBB group) and the non-RBBB group by pre-operation ECG. Echocardiography and follow-up were performed 1 month after operation.
The evaluation of mutton adulteration faces new challenges because of mutton flavour essence, which achieves a similar flavour between the adulterant and mutton. Hence, methods for classifying and quantifying the adulterated mutton under the effect of mutton flavour essence, based on near-infrared hyperspectral imaging (NIR-HSI, 1000-2500 nm) combined with machine learning (ML) and sparrow search algorithm (SSA), were proposed in this study. After spectral preprocessing via first derivative combined with multiple scattering correction (1D + MSC), classification and quantification models were established using back propagation neural network (BP), extreme learning machine (ELM) and support vector machine/regression (SVM/SVR).

The composite film can adsorb and respond to the volatile amines produced by the quality deterioration of pork during storage at 4 °C, with the fluorescence intensity of RhB decreasing over time. The quantitative model used for predicting the freshness indicator (total volatile base nitrogen) of pork was built using the fluorescence spectra (excited at 340 nm) of the RhB@MOF-5 composite film combined with the partial least squares (PLS) algorithm, providing R and R values of 0.

The system acquired fluorescence images of pork and the color features were extracted from these images to establish partial least squares regression (PLSR) models to predict total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), total viable count (TVC), pH for pork. For TVB-N, TVC and pH values, R were 0.

Although some recent studies have reported occurrence of novel PFAS alternatives in biotic and abiotic matrices near fluorochemical facilities worldwide, little is known about novel PFAS congeners in maternal sera, umbilical cord sera, and placentas from the female residents close to the FIP and their related health risks. In this study, 50 paired samples of maternal and cord serum as well as placenta were derived from Fuxin pregnant women at delivery, and 21 target analytes of legacy PFASs in all the samples were analyzed via high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS), revealing that PFBS, PFBA, and PFOA were the dominant PFAS contaminants observed in the whole samples.

Zearalenone (ZEN) can easily contaminate wheat, seriously affecting the quality and safety of wheat grains. In this study, a near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy detection method for rapid detection of ZEN in wheat grains was proposed. First, the collected original near-infrared spectra were denoised, smoothed and scatter corrected by Savitzky-Golay smoothing (SG-smoothing) and multiple scattering correction (MSC), and then normalized.

However, studies of national government trust are typically too coarse-grained to differentiate between trust in institutions versus more interpersonal trust in political leaders. Here, we present multiscale trust measurements for twelve countries and territories across the West, Oceania and East Asia.
