Objective: To compare the number and incidence of Kawasaki disease (KD) patients in years 2 through 4 of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, and determine the impact of 3 years of implementation of infection control measures and their subsequent relaxation on the epidemiology of KD in Japan.
Study Design: We conducted a population-based, cohort study including consecutive KD patients in Kobe City between 2021 and 2023. We compared the incidence of KD cases, in relation to timing of infection control measures, as well as infectious disease cases based on a regional surveillance system.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate patients with preoperative pain from the pathological perspective and discuss the potential pathogenesis of CPIP in those patients.
Methods: This was a single-institutional retrospective study.
Although cataracts affect almost all people at advanced age and carry a risk of blindness, the mechanisms of cataract development remain incompletely understood. Oxidative stress, which is a causative factor in cataract, results in DNA breakage, which suggests that DNA damage could contribute to the formation of cataracts. We developed an ex vivo experimental system to study changes in gene expression during the formation of opacities in the lens by culturing explanted rat lenses with Methylmethanesulfonate (MMS) or Bleomycin, which induce DNA damage.
