Methionine, S-benzylcysteine and S-allylcysteine were converted into 2-diazo-3-oxo-4-phthalimidocarboxylic esters 8a-c in three steps. Upon rhodium-catalysed dediazoniation, two intramolecular carbenoid reactions competed, namely the formation of a cyclic sulfonium ylide and that of a six-ring carbonyl ylide. The S-methyl and S-benzyl ylides 12a and b could be isolated, while S-allyl ylide 12c underwent a [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement.

Soldering continues to be the prevailing joining technique in the dental laboratory, although problems arise from the susceptibility to corrosion and the low strength of soldered joints. This study aimed to reveal sources of defects in dental laboratory workpieces in order to achieve optimization in terms of quality assurance.

As there are no epiphyseal plates in the mandibular bone, stop of growth cannot be determined on X-ray films.
Methods: Bone scans of 731 patients [687 patients (324 male, 363 female) under 39 y for exact determination of end of growth and 44 (21 male, 23 female) patients over 40 y for evaluation of non-growth dependent differences in tracer uptake] were reviewed for the study.
