Despite efforts to incorporate evidence-based practice into mental health settings, there has been inconsistent success doing so. Several barriers to the implementation of evidence-based practice have been identified, including limitations in time and statistical training. One promising approach to further bridge the science-practice gap is the greater use of meta-analytic studies to clarify the magnitude of treatment effects and to understand components of treatments that are more effective within specific populations.

Objectives: We evaluated an Evidence Access service by clinical librarians in a mental health trust in northern England to assess impacts on staff decision making and identify areas for improvement.
Methods: The evaluation was guided by the integrated Promoting Action on Research in Health Services framework.
Rectal cancer metastasising to the penis is an exceptionally rare clinical entity, with less than 80 reported cases. Metastasis to the penis is typically identified in conjunction with widespread metastatic disease and as such is usually associated with a very poor prognosis. We report a case of a man who presented with a metastatic deposit in his penis 15 years after the initial diagnosis of rectal cancer.

As a cornerstone of synthetic chemistry, it has largely remained unchanged since its discovery over a century ago. Herein, we report the mechanistically driven development of a complementary reaction, which reductively aminates the C-C σ-bond of carbonyls, not the carbonyl C-O π-bond, generating value-added linear and cyclic 3° amines in a modular fashion.
