: The optimal venous thromboembolism (VTE) chemoprophylaxis approach after hip or knee total joint arthroplasty (TJA) remains controversial. This study aimed to characterize antithrombotic-related complications associated with various chemoprophylaxis regimens after TJA and to assess our current institutional risk-stratified prescribing tool. : This retrospective case-control study and regression analysis included elective unilateral TJA patients at a single institution between 1 July 2015 and 31 December 2021.

The phase estimation algorithm is crucial for computing the ground-state energy of a molecular electronic Hamiltonian on a quantum computer. Its efficiency depends on the overlap between the Hamiltonian's ground state and an initial state, which tends to decay exponentially with system size. We showcase a practical orbital optimization scheme to alleviate this issue.

Purpose: To determine the rate of visual field (VF) loss before and after the diagnosis of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) in the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS).

Design: Prespecified analyses of data collected prospectively in a clinical trial with extended follow-up.

Setting And Participants: Participants who developed POAG during OHTS 1 and 2 (February 1994 to December 2008) constitute an inception cohort.

Most respiratory microbiome studies use amplicon sequencing due to high host DNA. Metagenomics sequencing offers finer taxonomic resolution, phage assessment, and functional characterization. We evaluated five host DNA depletion methods on frozen nasal swabs from healthy adults, sputum from people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF), and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) from critically ill patients.

Introduction: Evidence-based principles in enhanced recovery programs (ERPs) demonstrate substantial improvement in patient outcomes. Determining which latent variables predict composite outcomes could refine ERP pharmacotherapy recommendations.

Methods: Using R, pharmacotherapy data were modeled from an existing dataset of adult elective colorectal surgery patients.
