Intra-articular glucocorticoid injections are effective in controlling inflammation and pain in arthritides but restricted by short duration of action and risk of joint degeneration. Controlled drug release using biocompatible hydrogels offers a unique solution, but limitations of in situ gelation restrict their application. Gellan sheared hydrogels (GSHs) retain the advantages of hydrogels, however their unique microstructures lend themselves to intra-articular application - capable of shear thinning under force but restructuring at rest to enhance residence.

Purpose Of Review: This paper reviews options for including community health accountability metrics for child healthcare systems, international and regional experience with such metrics, and some specific candidates for metric consideration.

Recent Findings: The inclusion of community metrics in child health accountability systems requires expanded accountability frameworks and re-education of clinicians. Most of the experience with use of community metrics in accountability systems comes from international settings.

Background: We investigated associations of childhood socioeconomic position and health with trajectories of grip strength from middle to older ages in two distinct populations.

Methods: We used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS, n = 16,701) and English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA, n = 12,695). Hand grip strength was measured at three timepoints in CHARLS (2011-2015) and four in ELSA (2001-2020).

Despite the widespread presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in freshwater environments, only a few studies have addressed their bioaccumulation in macrophytes and benthic invertebrates. This study therefore aimed at investigating the presence of 40 PFAS in sediments, assessing their bioaccumulation in a rooting macrophyte () and a benthic invertebrate () and examining the effects of the presence and bioturbation activity of the invertebrate on PFAS bioaccumulation in the plants. The macrophytes were exposed to sediments originating from a reference and a PFAS-contaminated site.

Astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical (DoVs) are close indicators of the slope of the geoid. Thus, DoVs observed along horizontal profiles may be integrated to create geoid undulation profiles. In this study, we collected DoV data in the Eastern Swiss Alps using a Swiss Digital Zenith Camera, the COmpact DIgital Astrometric Camera (CODIAC), and two total station-based QDaedalus systems.
