Development and antitumor activity of a BCL-2 targeted single-stranded DNA oligonucleotide.

PNT100 is a 24-base, chemically unmodified DNA oligonucleotide sequence that is complementary to a region upstream of the BCL-2 gene. Exposure of tumor cells to PNT100 results in suppression of proliferation and cell death by a process called DNA interference. PNT2258 is PNT100 that is encapsulated in protective amphoteric liposomes developed to efficiently encapsulate the PNT100 oligonucleotide, provide enhanced serum stability, optimized pharmacokinetic properties and antitumor activity of the nanoparticle both in vivo and in vitro.

Equivalence of Visual Immunoprecipitate Assay (VIP) for Salmonella for the detection of motile and nonmotile Salmonella in all foods to AOAC culture method: collaborative study.

Six foods representative of a wide variety of processed, dried powder processed, and raw food types were analyzed by the Visual Immunoprecipitate Assay (VIP) for Salmonella and AOAC INTERNATIONAL culture method. Paired samples of each food type were simultaneously analyzed; one sample by the VIP method and one by the AOAC culture method. A total of 24 laboratories representing federal government agencies and private industry, in the United States and Canada, participated in this collaborative study.

Paired samples of each food type were simultaneously analyzed; one sample by the Assurance method and one by the AOAC culture method. The results for Assurance method were read visually and instrumentally with a microplate reader.

Multiple conformations of a human interleukin-3 variant.

Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a cytokine that stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic cells. The hyperactive hIL-3 variant SC-55494 was shown to have at least two major conformations by high-resolution NMR spectroscopy. Mutants of SC-55494 were constructed in which alanine was substituted for proline in order to test the hypothesis that proline cis-trans isomerization is the source of the observed conformational heterogeneity, as well as to evaluate the effect of prolyl peptide bond configuration on biological activity.
