In peatland restoration we often lack an information whether re-established ecosystems are functionally similar to non-degraded ones. We re-analysed the long-term outcomes of restoration on vegetation and plant functional traits in 38 European fens restored by rewetting (18 sites) and topsoil removal (20 sites). We used traits related to nutrient acquisition strategies, competitiveness, seed traits, and used single- and multi-trait metrics.

Objective: We aimed to describe the scope of cleft-related infanticide and identify issues that might inform prevention strategies.

Design: Systematic reviews of both academic (eg, PubMed, EBSCOhost) and lay literature (eg, LexisNexis Academic, Google) databases were performed to identify all primary reports of cleft-related infanticide. All languages were included.

Background: Sialoadhesin (CD169, siglec-1 or Sn) is an activation marker seen on macrophages in chronic inflammatory diseases and in tumours, and on subsets of tissue macrophages. CD169 is highly expressed by macrophages present in AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma lesions. It is also increased on blood monocytes of HIV-1 infected patients with a high viral load despite antiretroviral treatment.
