Purpose: To evaluate whether initiation of running in sedentary individuals would lead to bone marrow edema on MR images, within the time span of 1 week.

Materials And Methods: The feet of 10 healthy volunteers were imaged by MR imaging before and after running during 30 min a day for 1 week. The images were evaluated by consensus of 2 musculoskeletal radiologists who graded the presence of bone marrow edema on a 4-point scale.

We report a retrospective study of the prognostic value of 2-phase technetium 99m bone scanning performed in 92 patients who presented to Chamonix Hospital with severe frostbite of the extremities in the past 12 years. The results of this study show that an initial bone scan (as early as day 3) has excellent specificity in evaluating the severity of frostbite injury. The authors describe a technique with a single anterior incision and fixation with an internal button, the Endobutton. The procedure is performed through a 5-cm transverse skin incision, and the tendon is sutured to the Endobutton with 2 number 5 Ethibond sutures. Surgical repair in the depths of the muscular forearm is not required, because the tendon is simply sutured external to the wound.
