Climate change, the economic crisis and the current geopolitical situation are the biggest challenges of today. They participate to a fundamental extent in the creation of international policies. Renewable energy sources are thus gaining worldwide popularity.

Life Cycle Impact Assessment of Load-Bearing Straw Bale Residential Building.

As a renewable raw material, straw bale represents a sustainable way of construction with minimal environmental impact. This paper focused on life cycle impact assessment of load-bearing straw bale residential building. Product stage from raw materials extraction to manufacture of construction materials was considered in the assessment including seven variations of straw bale.

[The effect of air pollution on the occurrence of respiratory tract diseases in children in Slovakia].

In 1986 and 1987 the authors investigated the incidence of diseases of the respiratory system in children in 13 areas with a contaminated atmosphere. The morbidity was compared with the incidence of diseases in children living in an area with a relatively clean living environment. In 1986 the group comprised 8,973 children, in 1987 9,409 children aged 7-14 years.

Change of mutagenic activity of N-methyl-N-nitrosoguanidine during its decomposition studied by SOS chromotest.

N-methyl-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) decomposition kinetics in H2O was studied under in vitro conditions by spectrometry in different buffers and at different pH. Parallely the change of mutagenic activity of decomposing mixture was studied by SOS chromotest (in which the change of beta-galactosidase was observed). The MNNG decomposition was confirmed to be the reaction of the pseudofirst order.
