Background: Despite trimodality treatment, 10% to 20% of patients with esophageal cancer experience interval metastases after surgery. Restaging may identify patients who should not proceed to surgery, as well as a subgroup with limited metastases for whom long-term disease-control can be obtained. This study aimed to determine the proportion of patients with interval metastases after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) and to evaluate treatment and survival.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of PSMA-targeting radioligand therapy (RLT) for treating malignant brain tumors and investigated if administering the treatment via super-selective intra-arterial (ssIA) methods could improve drug uptake in tumors.
  • Ten patients with brain tumors underwent both intravenous and intra-arterial administration of [Ga]Ga-PSMA-11, with safety monitored and tumor uptake quantified through PET-MRI imaging across different time points.
  • Results showed that ssIA administration significantly increased radioligand uptake in tumors (15-fold higher median) compared to intravenous administration, without adverse effects, indicating it may be a promising approach for enhancing treatment options for brain tumor patients.*

Background: Approximately 4-9% of patients have a tumor-positive resection margin after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) and esophagectomy. Although it is associated with decreased survival, Western guidelines do not recommend adjuvant treatment.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the proportion of patients who received adjuvant therapy, and to evaluate overall survival (OS) after esophagectomy in patients with a tumor-positive resection margin.

Introduction: Patients with limited metastatic/advanced esophageal cancer not amenable for neoadjuvant therapy plus surgery have a poor prognosis and often receive palliative care. Alternatively, induction chemotherapy with response evaluation can be considered and in some patients surgery with curative intent may become feasible. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of patients treated with induction chemotherapy and to identify patient and/or tumor characteristics associated with survival.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose ( 18 F-FDG) PET/MRI may potentially improve tumor detection after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) for esophageal cancer.

Methods: This was a prospective, single-center feasibility study. At 6-12 weeks after nCRT, patients underwent standard 18 F-FDG PET/computed tomography (CT) followed by PET/MRI, and completed a questionnaire to evaluate burden.
