Article Synopsis
  • This review examines the links between generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) and various systemic diseases, indicating that GPP has far-reaching health impacts beyond skin issues.
  • It emphasizes the role of specific cytokines, like IL-17 and IL-36, in GPP's pathophysiology and their potential contributions to complications in cardiovascular, liver, kidney, lung, and skeletal health.
  • The findings suggest a need for a holistic treatment approach that considers both skin and systemic health challenges associated with GPP to improve patient care and outcomes.

Autoimmune diseases often co-occur due to shared immunological mechanisms, necessitating strategic treatment approaches to manage overlapping conditions without exacerbating each other. A 75-year-old male with a history of psoriasis vulgaris and bullous pemphigoid (BP) developed new-onset pustular psoriasis under systemic corticosteroid therapy, which is known to potentially worsen psoriasis into its pustular form. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis, showing features typical of pustular psoriasis.

Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction exists in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and causes activity restriction and a poor prognosis, but there have been few reports about exercise tolerance in patients with diastolic dysfunction, regardless of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). In this study, 294 cardiovascular disease patients who performed a cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPX) with an adequate examination by echocardiography at Fukuoka University Hospital from 2011 to 2020 were investigated. Patients were divided into groups with grade I and grade II or III diastolic dysfunction according to diagnostic criteria, regardless of LVEF, by echocardiography.

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare and infiltrative soft tissue tumor. Our report details a distinctive case of DFSP with pan-TRK positivity in the right nasal dorsum of a 46-year-old female. Histological analysis identified fusion gene involvement in this patient, detectable through pan-TRK immunostaining.
