The clinical diagnosis of appendicular pathology has an unacceptably high false-positive rate, particularly in premenopausal women. Diagnostic laparoscopy is a significant aid towards accurate diagnosis. Laparoscopic appendicectomy can be safely and economically performed as a logical sequel to diagnostic laparoscopy.
