Given impulsivity's multidimensional nature and its implications across various aspects of human behavior, a comprehensive understanding of functional brain circuits associated with this trait is warranted. In the current study, we utilized whole-brain resting-state functional connectivity data of healthy males (n = 156) to identify a network of connections predictive of an individual's impulsivity, as assessed by the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS)-11. Our participants were selected, in part, based on their self-reported BIS-11 impulsivity scores.

Melioidosis, caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei, is known for its diverse clinical presentations and high mortality rate. This brief communication reports the clinico-microbiological profile of twenty cases of melioidosis in a tertiary care hospital over three years. We have analyzed demographic data, clinical presentations, microbiological findings, and treatment outcomes to enhance the understanding and management of this under-recognized infection.

In this work, novel intrinsic electronic absorption (250-400 nm) with a molar extinction coefficient of 752 Mcm at 250 nm, arising from photoinduced electron transfer involving charged amino acid side chains and the polypeptide backbone, along with luminescence (300-500 nm) with quantum yield of 0.011 from subsequent charge recombination, was observed in salmon sperm Protamine (PRM). The absorption of PRM was attributed to the previously identified Peptide Backbone-to-Side chain Charge Transfer (PBS-CT) from the polypeptide backbone to the abundant cationic headgroups of Arginine in PRM, while the luminescence was believed to originate from charge recombination within the charge-separated excited states of PRM.

Successful identification of estrum or other stages in a cycling bitch often requires a combination of methods, including assessment of its behavior, exfoliative vaginal cytology, vaginoscopy, and hormonal assays. Vaginoscopy is a handy and inexpensive tool for the assessment of the breeding period. The present study introduces an innovative method for identifying the stages in the estrous cycle of female canines.
