Background: In this current modern industrial world, strokes are the major reason for causing disability and death in the adult population. In spite of the various tools available to measure the physical, psychological, and social impact of strokes, the appropriate method in various languages around the world is not available. In that sense adapting the Stroke-Specific Quality of Life Scale (SSQoL) in different languages and cultures is essential to ensure their validity and efficacy across diverse populations.

Research on adolescent mental health in low and middle-income countries cites the paucity of human resources and emphasises non-specialist worker (NSW)-led counselling intervention within school and health-system platforms. This pilot study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a transdiagnostic stepped care model, for delivering preventive psychological treatment to adolescents through NSWs in urban vulnerable community settings. Conducted in three such settlements in Mumbai and Thane districts of Maharashtra in India, this mixed-methods study engaged 500 young people, their parents and 52 NSWs.

Phenylketonuria (PKU) is an autosomal recessive metabolic disorder resulting from deficient phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) enzyme activity, leading to impaired phenylalanine (Phe) metabolism. This condition can lead to intellectual disability, epilepsy, and behavioural issues. Treatment typically involves strict dietary restrictions on natural protein intake, supplemented with chemically manufactured protein substitutes containing amino acids other than Phe.

Purpose: Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) is a progressive blinding disorder, characterized by increased corneal endothelial excrescences (guttae), corneal endothelial cell loss, and edema. These symptoms are hypothesized to be caused by changes in the extracellular matrix (ECM) and mitochondrial dysfunction in the corneal endothelium. Despite this clinical and biological relevance, a comprehensive animal model that recapitulates all the major disease characteristics is currently unavailable.

Plant-based hydrogels have wide application as scaffolds in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine due to their low cost and excellent biocompatibility. Scaffolds act as vehicles for cell-based therapeutics and regenerating diseased tissue. While there is a plethora of methods to generate hydrogels with tunable properties to mimic the tissue of interest, 3D bioprinting is a novel emerging technology with the capability to generate versatile patient-specific scaffolds typically embedded with tissue specific cells.
