Although edible flowers have been historically principally used due to their visual appeal and smell, the world is discovering their value as innovative and natural sources of bioactive compounds. L. (CpL), a plant from the Cucurbitaceae family, is widely cultivated for its edible fruits and flowers, which are rich in polyphenols and carotenoids-compounds known for their potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Updating the relationship of Chlamydia pneumoniae with atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases: a systematic review of reviews.

Chlamydia pneumoniae is the etiologic agent of respiratory tract infections in humans, including community-acquired pneumonia, and has been associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. The present systematic review of reviews aimed at answering important questions on the involvement of C. pneumoniae in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, its cellular and molecular mechanisms, and whether there is evidence of a causal relationship.

A Multi-Strain Oral Probiotic Improves the Balance of the Vaginal Microbiota in Women with Asymptomatic Bacterial Vaginosis: Preliminary Evidence.

Background/objectives: the vaginal microbiota is known to confer protection in the genital ecosystem, due to the predominance of different species, playing a crucial role in women's health; alterations in the composition of the microbial communities in the vagina can be associated with the development of bacterial vaginosis (BV). Current therapy for BV involves oral or intravaginal administration of metronidazole or clindamycin, albeit the high recurrence rates suggest a need for alternative therapeutic tools, such as probiotics. Herein, the diversity and composition of vaginal microbiota in women with asymptomatic BV was investigated before and after the oral administration of a multi-strain probiotic formulation.

Comparative in vitro activity of Delafloxacin and other antimicrobials against isolates from patients with acute bacterial skin, skin-structure infection and osteomyelitis.

The aim of this study was to compare the in vitro activity of delafloxacin with other fluoroquinolones against bacterial pathogens recovered from inpatients with osteomyelitis, Acute Bacterial Skin and Skin-Structure Infections (ABSSSI). In total, 100 bacterial isolates (58 % Gram-negative and 42 % Gram-positive) recovered from inpatients between January and April 2021, were reidentified at species level by MALDI-TOF MS. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was conducted using the broth microdilution method and the detection of biofilm formation was assessed through the microtiter plate assay.
