Background: Hospital-acquired pressure ulcers (HAPUs) constitute an important source of concern for healthcare systems due to their negative consequences on patient quality of life and hospital costs. This phenomenon is increasing worldwide, driven by an aging population and increasing prevalence of chronic conditions. This economic evaluation aimed to determine whether using a multilayer, silicone-adhesive polyurethane foam dressing shaped for the sacrum area, alongside standard prevention (SP), is cost-effective in preventing HAPUs for hospitalized patients compared to SP alone.

A prospective case series from the UK Medical Cannabis Registry was analyzed. The primary outcomes changes were in Brief Pain Inventory, McGill Pain Questionnaire, EuroQol 5-dimension 5-level (EQ-5D-5L), Generalised Anxiety Disorder-7 questionnaire, and Single-Item Sleep Quality Scale at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months of follow-up compared with baseline.

Anecdotal reports from paediatricians indicate a more severe neurodegeneration in MPS IIIA patients, following infection, suggesting inflammation as a potential driver of neuropathology. To test this hypothesis, we performed acute studies in which WT and MPS IIIA mice were challenged with the TLR3-dependent viral mimetic poly(I:C).

Contributing causes include the inadequate intake of specific nutrients such as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and a lack of adequate stimulation. We conducted a pilot study assessing developmental and nutritional changes in children with SAM provided with a modified ready-to-use therapeutic food and context-specific psychosocial intervention in Mwanza, Tanzania.
