A multi-modal assessment of fear conditioning in adolescent anorexia nervosa.

Objective: Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a pernicious psychiatric disorder which is principally characterized by a fear of weight gain. Notwithstanding the centrality of fear in the psychopathology of AN, controlled assessments of negative valence systems are lacking. Herein we assess fear conditioning in adolescent females with AN.

Genetic Spectrum of Polycystic Kidney and Liver Diseases and the Resulting Phenotypes.

Polycystic kidney diseases are a group of monogenically inherited disorders characterized by cyst development in the kidney with defects in primary cilia function central to pathogenesis. Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) has progressive cystogenesis and accounts for 5-10% of kidney failure (KF) patients. There are two major ADPKD genes, PKD1 and PKD2, and seven minor loci.

Morphology of Biofilms Formed in Space.

Fungi biofilms have been found growing on spacecraft surfaces such as windows, piping, cables, etc. The contamination of these surfaces with fungi, although undesirable, is highly difficult to avoid. While several biofilm forming species, including , have been identified in spacecraft, the effect of microgravity on fungal biofilm formation is unknown.

Efficacy of Chondroprotective Food Supplements Based on Collagen Hydrolysate and Compounds Isolated from Marine Organisms.

Osteoarthritis belongs to the most common joint diseases in humans and animals and shows increased incidence in older patients. The bioactivities of collagen hydrolysates, sulfated glucosamine and a special fatty acid enriched dog-food were tested in a dog patient study of 52 dogs as potential therapeutic treatment options in early osteoarthritis. Biophysical, biochemical, cell biological and molecular modeling methods support that these well-defined substances may act as effective nutraceuticals.

Community norms for the eating disorder examination questionnaire (EDE-Q) among cisgender bisexual plus women and men.

Purpose: Cisgender bisexual plus (including bisexual, pansexual, and polysexual) women and men experience unique health concerns including eating disorders. The purpose of this study was to develop community norms for eating disorder attitudes and disordered eating behaviors in cisgender bisexual plus women and men using the Eating Disorders Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q).

Methods: Participants were cisgender bisexual plus women (n = 462) and men (n = 93) participants in The PRIDE Study, an existing study of sexual and gender minority people.
