Aesthetic Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction in Laparoscopic vs. Open Incisional Hernia Repair: Have We Asked the Patients?

Incisional hernias are predominantly treated through open or laparoscopic surgery, with each method influencing recovery and patient-reported outcomes. This underscores the need for reliable assessment tools such as the EuraHS-QoL questionnaire to evaluate quality of life after surgery. This prospective single-center study was aimed at evaluating aestethic outcomes and patient satisfaction following laparoscopic versus open hernia repair.

Management of Locally Advanced Laryngeal Cancer-From Risk Factors to Treatment, the Experience of a Tertiary Hospital from Eastern Europe.

Laryngeal cancer is an important oncological entity in which prognosis depends on the establishment of appropriate preventive and diagnostic measures, especially in high-risk populations. We present a retrospective two-year study (January 2021 to December 2022) with 152 patients diagnosed with laryngeal cancer from a tertiary hospital in Romania. The average age of the patients was 62 years old for both sexes, with a range from 44 to 83 years.

Surgical Features after Neoadjuvant Treatment for Breast Cancer.

Aim: To establish the main implications of therapeutic management of the cases of breast cancer treated initially with chemotherapy followed by surgery.

Material And Method: 35 breast cancer patients operated in 2020 after NACT (neoadjuvant chemotherapy) in Surgery Clinic of Coltea Hospital are analyzed, and the response after treatment is pathologicaly evaluated using the Residual Cancer Burden method The results of the analysis of the group of patients showed that most patients presented downstaging of the disease after neoadjuvant treatment with a proportion of 17,14% with complete pathologic response.

Any new operative procedure is challenged by the need for broad applicability and less invasive attributes and should fit inside the frame of reasonable costs, fair efficacy, low morbidity and recurrence rate based on a procedural technique that is simple enough, reproducible and easy-tolearn.

Meckel's diverticulum--a rare cause of intestinal obstruction in adults.

Although many people have Meckel's diverticulum, only some experience any symptoms, most under the age of 10. In adults it is usually asymptomatic but approximately 4% develop complications. Meckel's diverticulum is usually diagnosed in the first years of life and after that the risk of the complications decreases with increasing age, with no predictive factors for the development of complications.
