Adrenal adenoma secreting 17-hydroxyprogesterone mimicking non-classical 21-hydroxylase deficiency.

In adrenal steroidogenesis, 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) is a substrate for 21-hydroxylase, one of the crucial enzymes of the cortisol and aldosterone biosynthesis pathway. Thus, measurement serum 17-OHP concentration is used when the diagnosis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency is suspected. In the classic 21-hydroxylase deficiency, randomly timed measurements of 17-OHP are generally significantly elevated using different immunoassays.

Risk of malignancy in adrenal tumors in patients with a history of cancer.

Purpose: Adrenal gland is a common site of metastasis and on the other hand, metastases are the most frequent malignant adrenal tumors. The aim of this study was to estimate the risk of malignancy in suspicious adrenal mass in patients with a history of cancer.

Methods: This is a single-center retrospective analysis of patients with adrenal tumors treated previously for different types of cancers.

Safety and efficacy of the FLOT regimen in the Polish population - an analysis of the prospective trial.

As gastric cancer is associated with poor prognosis, the preferred management of locally advanced gastric cancer (GC) and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer in European patients is perioperative chemotherapy using the FLOT regimen. Previously published data demonstrate that such treatment is associated with improved disease-free survival (DFS) as well as overall survival (OS) compared to ECF/ECX regimen. In order to collect biomaterial for the identification of serum biomarkers of an early response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy, we performed a prospective study and here, we report the safety and clinical efficacy of this prospective cohort.

Adrenal "nonadenoma" - clinical characteristics and risk of malignancy.

Introduction: There is an increasing number of adrenal tumours discovered incidentally during imaging examinations performed for many different indications. Based on imaging results, it is possible to differentiate benign from malignant adrenal masses, although there is still a number of equivocal imaging findings. Our study presents 77 cases of adrenal tumours in which imaging was inconclusive and the final diagnosis was stated only after surgery and histopathological examination.

Adrenal metastases - long-term results of surgical treatment, single-centre experience.

Introduction: The adrenal gland is a frequent site of metastases in different types of cancer. The aim of this study was to assess the results of metastatic adrenalectomy in a single institution and to identify factors for survival.

Material And Methods: A retrospective, single-centre analysis of outcomes of 39 patients (22 male, 17 female) with adrenal metastases who underwent surgery within 14 years (2004-2017) was performed.
