Laparoscopic plication (LP) of gastric big curvature (GBC) constitutes a new bariatric restrictive procedure, which has mechanism quite similar to that of a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), but without danger for the sutures insufficiency development. The efficacy and safety of LSG and LP GBC were compared. Analysis of complications, the body mass (BM) index loss, an extra BM loss, an appetite loss, severity of the concomitant diseases course was conducted in accordance to results of the repeat examination.

After the intervention by the improved method, regardless of the location of the hernia defect yielded promising results for the conservation of anterior abdominal wall muscle function in 75% of cases completely restored functional ability of muscles recti abdomini.
