Background: Although several National Data Registries for Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) exist, few are comprehensive and contemporary. A National Australian CHD Registry has been developed that aims to redress this by creating the first comprehensive data collection for CHD children and adults, initially across Australia.

Methods: We defined and collected a minimum dataset of demographics, diagnoses, and procedures from people with CHD presenting at participating quaternary CHD services Australia-wide.

Background The goals of the annual Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology In-Training Examination (CREOG-ITE) are to provide residents with an assessment of their knowledge and program directors an assessment of their residency programs. Research has shown that a score greater than 200 is correlated with passing the qualifying board examination. We observed a substantial number of our residents were not performing well on the exam, which prompted the implementation of a new academic program aimed at determining the impact of an academic curriculum addition on CREOG-ITE scores in an American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) residency program.

Heterochromatin formation in Schizosaccharomyces pombe requires the spreading of histone 3 (H3) Lysine 9 (K9) methylation (me) from nucleation centers by the H3K9 methylase, Suv39/Clr4, and the reader protein, HP1/Swi6. To accomplish this, Suv39/Clr4 and HP1/Swi6 have to associate with nucleosomes both nonspecifically, binding DNA and octamer surfaces and specifically, via recognition of methylated H3K9 by their respective chromodomains. However, how both proteins avoid competition for the same nucleosomes in this process is unclear.

Background: Outcomes-based agreements (OBAs) are agreements between payers and manufacturers in which payment for medications is tied to patient outcomes. These contracts aim to measure the value of prescription medications on predefined clinical indicators in real-world patient populations. OBAs are gaining traction in the United States as the health care industry shifts from volume-based to value-based care.

Article Synopsis
  • Group 3 medulloblastoma (MBGRP3) is a type of brain cancer that's linked to the MYC gene, which makes it harder for patients to recover.
  • Researchers are exploring ways to target MYC by studying how it affects certain chemical processes in cells.
  • The study found that blocking a specific enzyme related to the MYC pathway could help increase survival in mouse models, suggesting new ways to treat this serious form of cancer.
