Objectives: Osteoradionecrosis (ORN) following radiation therapy (RT) is a serious complication for patients undergoing head and neck cancer treatment. Recent literature has found an association between ipsilateral external carotid artery (ECA) diameter and the development of ORN. This study evaluates microvascular free-flap arterial anastomosis diameter and the development of ORN.

Successful Intraoperative Salvage of a Venous Congested Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator Flap Using a Cross-thoracic Saphenous Vein Graft.

For autologous breast reconstruction using the deep inferior epigastric perforator flap, the internal mammary vessels are a common choice for recipient vessels. However, if these vessels are discovered to be inadequate, this may require the utilization of alternative vessels for successful salvage. Here, we demonstrate the use of a venous conduit for flap salvage in a patient undergoing bilateral deep inferior epigastric perforator flap breast reconstruction.

The use of β-lactam (BL) and β-lactamase inhibitor combination to overcome BL antibiotic resistance has been validated through clinically approved drug products. However, unmet medical needs still exist for the treatment of infections caused by Gram-negative (GN) bacteria expressing metallo-β-lactamases. Previously, we reported our effort to discover pan inhibitors of three main families in this class: IMP, VIM, and NDM.
