Background: Greater therapeutic alliance has been associated with an improved treatment outcome in various clinical populations. However, there is a lack of evidence for this association in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in young patients. We therefore investigated the development of the therapeutic alliance during Developmentally adapted cognitive processing therapy (D-CPT) in adolescents and young adults with PTSD following abuse to answer the question whether there was a connection between the therapeutic alliance and symptom reduction.

Predictors of study dropout in cognitive-behavioural therapy with a trauma focus for post-traumatic stress disorder in adults: An individual participant data meta-analysis.

Background: Available empirical evidence on participant-level factors associated with dropout from psychotherapies for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is both limited and inconclusive. More comprehensive understanding of the various factors that contribute to study dropout from cognitive-behavioural therapy with a trauma focus (CBT-TF) is crucial for enhancing treatment outcomes.

Objective: Using an individual participant data meta-analysis (IPD-MA) design, we examined participant-level predictors of study dropout from CBT-TF interventions for PTSD.

Agreement for posttraumatic stress symptoms among unaccompanied young refugees and professional caregivers.

Prevalence rates for posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) in unaccompanied young refugees (UYRs) are high. Research with biological parents indicates low agreement rates between self and caregiver reports for PTSS, although caregivers play an important role as gatekeepers to ensure appropriate treatment. This study examines youth and caregiver agreement on the endorsement of different trauma types, the PTSS severity score and symptom clusters, as well as the potential association between youth factors (age, comorbidity, and duration in facility) and disagreement.

Differences of TF-CBT treatment effects using various outcome measures: a meta-analysis.

Diagnostic criteria of posttraumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents and corresponding instruments have undergone significant changes over time. However, the impact of different outcome measures on treatment effects in the context of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) has not yet been explored. TF-CBT is a well-researched first-line treatment for PTSS among children and adolescents and thus, an ideal candidate to examine the potential influence of different outcome measures by meta-analysis.
