Alpha fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein of foetal origin belonging to the albumin protein family. Serum AFP is a long-conceived early-diagnostic biomarker for HCC with its elevated expression in different liver pathologies ranging from hepatitis viral infections to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and HCC. Beyond their utility as biomarkers, in support of its contribution to these clinical outcomes, the function of AFP as an immune suppressor and inducer of malignant transformation in HCC patients is well reported.

The role of cholinergic signaling in multi-sensory gamma stimulation induced perivascular clearance of amyloid.

Modulatory neurotransmitters exert powerful control over neurons and the brain vasculature. Gamma Entrainment Using Sensory Stimuli (GENUS) promotes amyloid clearance via increased perivascular cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) flux in mouse models of Alzheimer's Disease. Here we use whole-brain activity mapping to identify the cholinergic basal forebrain as a key region responding to GENUS.

Validation of the Language ENvironment Analysis (LENA) Automated Speech Processing Algorithm Labels for Adult and Child Segments in a Sample of Families From India.

Purpose: The Language ENvironment Analysis (LENA) technology uses automated speech processing (ASP) algorithms to estimate counts such as total adult words and child vocalizations, which helps understand children's early language environment. This ASP has been validated in North American English and other languages in predominantly monolingual contexts but not in a multilingual context like India. Thus, the current study aims to validate the classification accuracy of the LENA algorithm specifically focusing on speaker recognition of adult segments (AdS) and child segments (ChS) in a sample of bi/multilingual families from India.

Non-typhoidal in humans in India, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka: a systematic review.

Objectives: Non-typhoidal (NTS) commonly causes a self-limiting illness but invasive disease (iNTS) can be life-threatening. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) increases the risk of mortality. This systematic review aimed to estimate the proportion of NTS isolated in those attending healthcare services, serovar burden, AMR, serovar-specific AMR, and case fatality rate (CFR) in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

Total colonic aganglionosis: management and long-term outcomes at a referral centre.

Objectives: The management of total colonic aganglionosis (TCA) in low-middle income countries (LMIC) is challenging. We aimed to analyze the profile, management, and outcome of patients with TCA at an Indian referral centre.

Methods: A retrospective review of demography, presentation, investigations, and treatment of patients with TCA at a single centre over 22 years with a standardized protocol is detailed.
