Background The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic affected life and livelihood worldwide, including India, with over five million deaths recorded over two years. In the present study, our objective was to analyze the COVID-19 deaths during the first and second waves in relation to demographic factors and comorbid conditions. Methods This was a hospital-based, retrospective comparative study of COVID-19 deaths that occurred in our hospital during the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To present a recently described surgical technique for the treatment of optic disc pit (ODP) and evaluate its outcomes. A patient presented with refractory serous macular detachment and secondary full thickness macular hole associated with ODP, for which he had already undergone pars-plana vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling and autologous serum application over the optic disc pit. A recently described surgical technique was carried out to treat this case.

Scrub typhus is an acute febrile disease transmitted via bites from mite larvae (chigger) infected with Orientia tsutsugamushi. Arrhythmias, ischaemic changes and QT prolongation are some of the observed ECG abnormalities. The patient being reported presented with angina and was found to have sinus bradycardia with ST elevation in inferior leads and T wave inversion in lateral leads.
