Objective: Acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) is a common symptom presented by emergency department (ED) patients. Differentiating peripheral from central etiology poses a challenge and clinical practice lacks a uniform diagnostic approach. This study aims to provide insight on incidence and diagnostics in ED patients presenting with AVS in the Netherlands.

GCN2/eIF2αK4 is exclusively seen as an eIF2α kinase, which regulates reprogramming of protein translation in response to stress. Here, we show that GCN2 has an unexpected role in unstressed cells as a regulator of mitosis. This function is not through its canonical role in translation reprogramming, but through the regulation of two previously unidentified substrates, PP1α and γ.

Combined anterior and posterior (A + P) PRF are expected to be less mechanically stable and therefore to be associated with higher levels of pain and reduced mobility compared to isolated anterior fractures. The current study investigates the clinical relevance of combined A + P PRF in elderly patients.

Objective: Routine urgent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with endoscopic biliary sphincterotomy (ES) does not improve outcome in patients with predicted severe acute biliary pancreatitis. Improved patient selection for ERCP by means of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) for stone/sludge detection may challenge these findings.
Design: A multicentre, prospective cohort study included patients with predicted severe acute biliary pancreatitis without cholangitis.
