Background: The fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda, has increased in importance as a pest over the past decade in Brazilian cotton fields. The limited efficacy of conventional management tools and rapid development of insecticide/ insecticidal proteins resistance is forcing growers to search for new and more sustainable solutions. Here, we report the results from two studies utilizing a microencapsulated sprayable pheromone formulation in Brazilian cotton fields.

I Brazilian guideline on hypertension in dialysis of the Brazilian Society of Nephrology.

Hypertension in dialysis patients (HTND) has a high prevalence, affecting at least 80% or more of patients, and its management in the nephrology practice is heterogeneous and often empirical. Knowing how to define, understand the pathophysiology, diagnose, monitor and treat with lifestyle changes, and adjust antihypertensive drugs to achieve the recommended blood pressure (BP) target - to reduce morbidity and mortality - requires specific knowl-edge and approaches within the contexts of hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD). This document is the first guideline of the Brazilian Society of Nephrology, developed by the departments of Hypertension and Dialysis.

Oral Microbiota and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: Detection of Emerging Fungal Pathogens and Herpesvirus.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) are the usual clinical forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Changes in the oral microbiota, especially the presence of emerging fungi and herpesviruses, have been shown to worsen the clinical aspects of IBD. The aim of this study was to screen for emerging pathogens in the oral yeast microbiota and the presence of herpesvirus in IBD patients.

Discovery and characterization of potent macrocycle inhibitors of ubiquitin-specific protease-7.

The ubiquitin-specific protease (USP) family of deubiquitinases (DUBs) are regulators of Ub signaling that share a common catalytic-domain fold. The dynamic nature of this domain is important for controlling the function of USPs, with inter- and intramolecular interactions often influencing the structure and enzymatic activity of these DUBs. This conformational flexibility, in combination with the high sequence conservation of the USP active site, has made it challenging to readily identify potent and selective inhibitors for individual USPs.

Early Life Outcomes of Prenatal Exposure to Alcohol and Synthetic Cannabinoids in Mice.

This study explores the effects of prenatal co-exposure to alcohol and synthetic cannabinoids on offspring viability, physical development, and neurobehavioral outcomes in young adulthood. The aim is to identify distinct outcomes of co-exposure compared to single-drug exposures and to examine potential sex-specific vulnerabilities in motor coordination and exploratory behaviors. Pregnant C57Bl/6J mice were assigned to one of four treatment groups: Control, Alcohol-exposed, Cannabinoid-exposed, or Alcohol+Cannabinoid-exposed, with drug administration occurring between Gestational Days 12-15.
