Among the numerous residential appliances, window or split air conditioners are the most prevalent. The hydrochlorofluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants used in those systems are causing a serious threat to the environment. In this study, R290-hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) mixtures are proposed as replacements for high-GWP substances (R410A and R22) in window air conditioning (WAC) units.

This study investigates the untapped potential of air-conditioning (AC) condensate as a source of chilled energy in AC systems of varying cooling capacities expressed in tons of refrigeration (TR) including 10 TR, 25 TR, and 50 TR. Field assessments revealed daily condensate generation of 37-148 L at 15 ± 1 °C, indicating significant cooling potential for energy recovery.

Historically, all methods have been supervised and thus limited by the inadequate sizes of experimentally curated data sets and by the lack of a standardized definition of variant effect. The emergence of unsupervised, deep learning (DL)-based methods raised an important question: Can machines learn the language of life from the unannotated protein sequence data well enough to identify significant errors in the protein "sentences"? Our analysis suggests that some unsupervised methods perform as well or better than existing supervised methods.

Water-phase change material (W-PCM)-based thermal energy storage (TES) allows for load shifting and effective management of peak demand by storing cooling energy when the demand is low. This stored energy can be deployed during peak hours, decreasing energy usage and associated CO emissions.

The gender and age can be estimated from a tooth using various methods. We aimed to estimate the calcium content of an intact tooth and compare it with its average weight and dimension and also to find the possible correlation with the age and gender of an individual.
