"We Want to Talk about Death, Dying and Grief and to Learn about End-of-Life Care"-Lessons Learned from a Multi-Center Mixed-Methods Study on Last Aid Courses for Kids and Teens.

Background: Last Aid Courses (LAC) for adults have been established in 21 countries in Europe, Australia and America to improve the public discussion about death and dying and to empower people to participate in end-of-life care provision. In 2018, the first Last Aid Courses for kids and teens (LAC-KT) were introduced. The aim of the study was to explore the views and experiences of the course participants and Last Aid Course instructors on the LAC-KT.

Successful vascular decompression in an 11-year-old patient with trigeminal neuralgia.

Case Report: We present the case of an 11-year-old boy who was suffering distinct trigeminal neuralgia. At the age of 3 years, the patient had contracted a severe Epstein-Barr virus infection and developed mild meningoencephalitis. Magnetic resonance imaging scans showed a slight enhancement in the pontomesencephalic cistern as well as a neurovascular conflict at the right trigeminal nerve.

Migraine prevention in children and adolescents: results of an open study with a special butterbur root extract.

Objective: To explore the role of a special butterbur root extract for migraine prevention in children and adolescents with severe migraines.

Background: Two randomized and placebo-controlled trials with a total of 289 migraine patients have demonstrated the efficacy and safety of a special butterbur root extract in the reduction of migraine attacks in adults. We studied whether butterbur had the potential as an efficient and well-tolerated migraine preventive in children and adolescents.

[Intramuscular injections in children].

Intramuscular injections are still part of routine care in the treatment of children. Vaccines, premedications and analgesics are administered by this route. The pain associated with an intramuscular injection is severe, the risk of complications is increased, and pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics are unpredictable.

[Acute treatment of episodic childhood tension-type headache with flupirtine and paracetamol - a double-blind crossover-study].

Background: About 10% of all schoolchildren are suffering from migraine and 50% from tension-type headache. Headache of acute onset usually will be treated with analgesic substances like paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid or ibuprofen, the first one being the reference drug for tension-type headache in childhood. In case of lacking improvement or side-effects there is demand for an alternative safe substance for the acute analgesic therapy.
