Background: Transvenous lead extraction (TLE) plays a critical role in managing patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices. Mechanical TLE tools, including rotational sheaths, are used to overcome fibrosis and calcification surrounding leads. Prospective clinical data are limited regarding the safety and effectiveness of use of mechanical TLE devices, especially rotational tools.

Background: The Heart Team approach has become an integral part of modern cardiovascular medicine. To evaluate current opinions and real-world practice among lead extraction practitioners, an online survey was created and distributed among a pool of lead extraction specialists participating in the International Lead Extraction Expert Meeting (ILEEM) 2018.

Triflange acetabular reconstruction for pelvic discontinuity through a direct anterior approach.

A 74-year-old female patient presented to our clinic with pelvic discontinuity after multiple revision total hip surgeries requiring custom triflange acetabular reconstruction, which we accomplished through a direct anterior approach to the hip. The direct anterior approach to the hip has grown in popularity but still has the reputation of being a minimally invasive approach without the capacity for extensile exposure in the revision setting. We describe the extensile technique and demonstrate through our case the ability to perform the most challenging cases through this approach and discuss the potential benefits of its utilization.

Injuries, Violence, and Bullying Among Middle School Students in Oman.

Objectives: Injuries account for a substantial proportion of the burden of disease in adolescents globally. This paper describes injury rates and associated exposures, and risk behaviors in Oman's 2010 Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS).

Methods: This study used complex samples analysis to examine nationally-representative data from 1 606 students in grades eight, nine, and 10 who participated in the 2010 Oman GSHS.
