Objective: to translate and validate to Spanish the Caring Assessment Scale tool, CAT-V, by Joanne Duffy, within the framework of Jean Watson; as a secondary objective, it is proposed to evaluate its psychometric properties. There are tools designed to measure the patient's perception of provided cares, including CAT-V, the subject of our interest, in a way that it can be used in Spanish-speaking patients.

Methods: to meet the objectives, it was performed sequential translation and retro-translation of the scale to be validated, through a standardized procedure.

Background: Shrimp is a frequent cause of severe allergic reactions world-wide. Due to issues such as cross-reactivity, diagnosis of shrimp allergy is still inaccurate, requiring the need for double-blind, placebo-controlled food challenges (DBPCFC). A better understanding of the relationship between laboratory findings and clinical reactivity is needed.

Among tree nut allergens, pecan allergens remain to be identified and characterized. The objective was to demonstrate the IgE-binding ability of pecan 11S legumin and characterize its sequential IgE-binding epitopes. The 11S legumin gene was amplified from a pecan cDNA library and expressed as a fusion protein in Escherichia coli.
