Immersive reality for robotic surgical training: a pilot study using 3D visors for immersive view of the operating field.

Immersive intracorporeal vision is a key feature of robotic surgery, limited today to only one trainee per operation when the dual console is available. We developed a tool that provides a virtually unlimited number of surgeons with the operator's view, with the possibility to also watch the surgeon's hand movements and the operating table. In this study, we aim to assess trainees' reaction to this innovative training method.

Acute Pancreatitis during and after Pregnancy: A Review.

During pregnancy and in the post-partum period, several diseases may arise or become exacerbated. Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory disease with an increasing incidence in Western countries. The incidence of acute pancreatitis during pregnancy is not different with respect to the general population, but this incidence increases in the first 2 years after delivery.

A Case of Acupuncture Induced Pneumothorax.

With various forms of alternative medicinal practices gaining popularity, there is an increase in complications arising from these practices. Acupuncture, which originated in China, and now practiced worldwide as a form of traditional medicine, is generally considered safe; however, rare life-threatening complications can occur following its practice. Here we present the case of a 63-year-old male who presented to the emergency department with symptoms suggestive of pneumothorax.

Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis-still a diagnostic challenge.

Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis is a life-threatening complication characterized by acute paralysis of proximal muscles with severe hypokalemia in patients with a known or undiagnosed history of thyrotoxicosis. A 24-year-old man was brought to the emergency room with 1 month of progressively worsening lower-extremity weakness followed by urinary retention. He demonstrated severe motor weakness in proximal muscles with absent reflexes.

Drug-Induced Liver Injury From Sacubitril-Valsartan Versus a Single Dose of Acarbose.

Numerous known medications can induce liver injury. Sacubitril-valsartan was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2015 for use in patients with chronic heart failure to reduce the rate of cardiovascular death and hospitalizations related to heart failure. There are yet to be any reported cases of drug-induced liver injury secondary to sacubitril-valsartan use.
