Article Synopsis
  • Smoking and exposure to certain occupational agents are linked to lower methylation levels in the AHRR and F2RL3 genes, which are associated with lung cancer.
  • A case-control study analyzed 200 lung cancer cases and 400 controls, evaluating smoking habits and job exposure to various chemicals.
  • Findings underscore the importance of understanding environmental factors in lung cancer development, suggesting that future research should explore the combined effects of these exposures.

The objective of this paper was to estimate the inter-rater reliability of expert assessments of occupational exposures. An inter-rater reliability sub-study was conducted within a population-based case-control study of postmenopausal breast cancer. Detailed information on lifetime occupational histories was obtained from participants and two industrial hygienists assigned exposures to 185 jobs using a checklist of 293 agents.
