Wirefree, or bipolar electrochemistry, is advancing key fields, including (nano)materials, human health, and energy. Central to these applications is an understanding of the potential distribution induced in the bipolar electrode, BPE. Here, the impact of the electric field distribution is reported for the wirefree deposition of the conducting polymer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene), PEDOT, in the absence of deliberately added electrolytes.

Background New Zealand has among the highest rates of antimicrobial resistance in Mycoplasma genitalium in the world. The aim of this study was to correlate treatment outcomes with 23S rRNA and parC mutations associated with macrolide and fluroquinolone resistance, respectively, in a cohort of sexual health clinic patients. Methods Laboratory and clinical data were collected for patients with M.

The Bronx, New York, exhibited unique peaks in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases and hospitalizations compared to national trends. To determine which features of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus might underpin this local disease epidemiology, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the genomic epidemiology of the four dominant strains of SARS-CoV-2 (Alpha, Iota, Delta, and Omicron) responsible for COVID-19 cases in the Bronx between March 2020 and January 2023. Genomic analysis revealed similar viral fitness for Alpha and Iota variants in the Bronx despite nationwide data showing higher cases of Alpha.

Purpose: Extracting inclusion and exclusion criteria in a structured, automated fashion remains a challenge to developing better search functionalities or automating systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials in oncology. The question "Did this trial enroll patients with localized disease, metastatic disease, or both?" could be used to narrow down the number of potentially relevant trials when conducting a search.

Methods: Six hundred trials from high-impact medical journals were classified depending on whether they allowed for the inclusion of patients with localized and/or metastatic disease.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect in newborns, often requiring cardiac surgery with concomitant thymectomy that is known to increase disease susceptibility later in life. Studies of γδ T cells, which are one of the dominant T cells in the early fetal human thymus, are rare. Here, we provide a comprehensive analysis of the γδ T cell compartment via flow cytometry and next-generation sequencing in children and infants with CHD, who underwent cardiac surgery shortly after birth.
