Innovative telehospitalist model optimizes medical triage in collaboration with community emergency departments: A cross-sectional study.

Introduction: Optimal hospital bed utilization requires innovative patient care models. We studied a novel hospitalist model utilizing telemedicine to facilitate collaboration with affiliated emergency departments (EDs) and support medical triage and care of ED patients with high likelihood of hospital admission.

Methods: Telehospitalists based at a tertiary care facility collaborated with four community EDs in the same healthcare network between January 1, 2022, and April 30, 2023.

Galectin-3 as a possible link between periodontitis and chronic kidney disease: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Chronic periodontitis is associated with various systemic inflammatory diseases; however, research on its association with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is relatively limited. Risk stratification tools for the prediction of complications in patients with upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage are crucial for appropriate management. Blood group status has been associated with the risk of bleeding, thrombosis and risk of peptic ulcer disease (PUD). We assessed the influence of blood group status on rebleeding and other complications in 699 patients with PUD bleeding.

Evaluation of salivary biomarker interleukin-6 in oral squamous cell carcinoma and oral potentially malignant disorders - A comparative cross-sectional South Indian study.

Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for nearly 90% of oral malignancies and represents a major global health care problem. It is often preceded by oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD). Although regular clinical examination forms the backbone for oral cancer screening, subtle lesions go unnoticed and there is a need for more sensitive and specific molecular biomarkers in mass screening of population.

Feasibility of transperineal intestinal ultrasound in assessing ulcerative proctitis during pregnancy.

This study explored the use of transperineal intestinal ultrasound (TPIUS) for assessment of ulcerative colitis (UC) in pregnancy. 8 pregnant women with UC underwent TP-US, clinical assessment and fecal calprotectin. TP-IUS was well tolerated and feasible with adequate rectal views obtained in all trimesters of pregnancy.
