Background: Non-invasive photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), employing specific infrared light wavelengths to stimulate biological tissues, has recently gained attention for its application to treat neurological disorders. Here, we aimed to uncover the cellular targets of PBMT and assess its potential as a therapeutic intervention for multiple sclerosis (MS).

Methods: We applied daily dorsoventral PBMT in an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model, which recapitulates key features of MS, and revealed a strong positive impact of PBMT on the sensorimotor deficits.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the risk of deep femoral vein (DFV) and/or femoral vein (FV) inflow disease on venous stent patency loss in post-thrombotic syndrome.

Methods: This single-center retrospective study included limbs with iliofemoral and ilocaval stents for PTS. Single-vessel and double-vessel inflow disease was defined based on imaging of possible post-thrombotic changes in the DFV/FV.

Background: Undifferentiated arthritis (UA) is a term used to describe patients with inflammatory arthritis that has not differentiated into a specific rheumatic disease. UA may be a pre-stage of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or another inflammatory disease or remain undifferentiated, but a substantial proportion of patients may also achieve spontaneous remission. As UA may be an early presentation of RA, rheumatologists often start methotrexate (or another csDMARD) as early as possible.

Article Synopsis
  • Sleep is essential for mental and physical health, and its disturbances are linked to psychiatric disorders, particularly in anorexia nervosa (AN), where the connection is not well understood.
  • A systematic review analyzed 67 studies on sleep in patients with AN, revealing significant differences in sleep patterns compared to healthy controls, such as reduced total sleep time and efficiency, increased wake after sleep onset, and altered sleep stages.
  • The findings indicate that sleep issues in AN are significant, and simply restoring weight may not improve sleep quality, highlighting the need for treatment strategies that address these sleep disturbances.

Infrared neural stimulation (INS) emerges as a promising tool for stimulating the nervous system by its high spatial precision and absence of the use of exogenous agents into the tissue, which led to the first successful proof of concept in human brain. While neural networks have been the focal point of INS research, this technique is also non cell type specific as it triggers activity in non electrically excitable cells. Despite increasing interest, there remains to demonstrate well defined simultaneous astrocytic and neuronal signals in response to INS.
