[The peculiarities of surgical treatment for regional metastatic spread of peripheral lung cancer to the other lobe].

The aim of the study was to detect peculiarities of peripheral lung cancer metastasis from one lobe to the other. The records of 26 patients were reviewed. The scheme of surgical treatment for peripheral cell lung cancer with the regard of the invasion surface area in the neighbouring lobe structures was developed.

[Methodological aspects of expanded operations in patients with lung cancer].

In attempt to improve the results of treatment of locally advanced lung cancer different techniques are presented and described. In 1995-2008 in Thoracal Department of Georgian National Oncological Center lung resection was performed to 2460 patients, to 1368 (55,6%) of which expanded operations were performed. There were 1070 (78,2%) male and 298(21,8%) female.

[Efficiency of treatment methods of the patients with small-cell lung carcinoma].

With the use of multivariational statistical analysis of 185 patients with small cell lung carcinoma has been established that median survival (in months), and 1-year and 3-year survival rates (in percentage) of the patients are 9.4+/-2.6, 41.

[Temozolomide--a new antitumor preparation in the treatment of central nervous system malignant tumors].

Treatment results of the patients with central nervous system primary tumors are unsatisfactory. Nytrosomethylureal and vincaalkaloid preparations are rather ineffective in such cases. In recent years clinicians paid great attention to a new-generation chemotherapy drug, temozolomide (temozolomide - TMZ).

Real index of lung cancer morbidity rate among the Georgian population according to sex and age has been studied and expected morbidity prognosis has been made. Sex and age breakdown of the morbidity with lung cancer during 1980-2001 indicates to the predominant prevalence of this disease in males and elderly. The study of age peculiarities separately in males and females has revealed a number of specific features.
