We report on studies that demonstrate how the chemical composition of the surface of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) - in terms of percentage copper(I/II) oxides - can be varied by the presence of N-donor ligands during their formation via laser ablation. Changing the chemical composition thus allows systematic tuning of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) transition. The trialed ligands include pyridines, tetrazoles, and alkylated tetrazoles.

Reactions of the epoxides of 1,3-butadiene and isoprene (2-methyl-1,3-butadiene) with oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur nucleophiles have been compared to enable a better molecular understanding of the relative human toxicities of these epoxides. Hydrolysis of rac.-ethenyloxirane in (O)water gave 77% (2-O)but-3-ene-1,2-diol and 23% (1-O)but-3-ene-1,2-diol.

Coronary embolism is the underlying cause of 3% of acute coronary syndromes but is often not considered in the differential of acute coronary syndromes. It should be suspected in the case of high thrombus burden despite a relatively normal underlying vessel or recurrent coronary thrombus. Coronary embolism may be direct (from the aortic valve or left atrial appendage), paroxysmal (from the venous circulation through a patent foramen ovale), or iatrogenic (following cardiac intervention).

Aims And Objectives: To compare the incidence of femoral access puncture site complications in the control group, who underwent 6 hr of bed rest, with patients in the case group, who underwent 4 hr of bed rest.

Background: The ideal bed rest length after percutaneous coronary intervention with a 7-French arterial sheath has been investigated by nursing practice. However, in this larger-sheath-size group, best practices have not been determined, and bed rest time continues to vary markedly among institutions.
