The Association of Niacin Use with Kidney Outcomes and Mortality.

Introduction: Niacin is a non-statin lipid-lowering therapy that has been shown to lower triglycerides and improve other risk factors for renal outcomes. Despite these favorable data, the effect of niacin on long-term kidney outcomes remains unclear. The aim of this study is to examine the associations of niacin therapies with incident chronic kidney disease (CKD), end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and death in patients with estimated glomerular filtration (eGFR) of at least 60 mL/min/1.

In Vivo Tissue Temperature Characteristics of Contact Force Catheter With a Mesh-Shaped Irrigation Tip: A Porcine Study.

Background: Neither the actual in vivo tissue temperatures reached with a novel contact force sensing catheter with a mesh-shaped irrigation tip (TactiFlex SE, Abbott) nor the safety profile has been elucidated.

Methods: In a porcine model (n = 8), thermocouples were implanted epicardially in the superior vena cava, right pulmonary vein, and esophagus close to the inferior vena cava following a right thoracotomy. After chest closure, endocardial ablation was conducted near the thermocouples under fluoroscopic guidance.

Effectiveness of rehabilitation in hospitalized hemodialysis patients as compared with rehabilitation in hospitalized patients not on hemodialysis: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: The effectiveness of rehabilitation aimed at improving the activities of daily living and physical functions may differ between hospitalized patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) and not undergoing HD (non-HD). The aim of the present study was to compare the outcomes of rehabilitation between hospitalized HD and non-HD patients.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of inpatients who underwent rehabilitation.

Bonding performance of universal adhesive systems with dual-polymerising resin cements to various dental substrates: in vitro study.

Background: Resin cements often require substrate-specific pretreatment. Recently, universal adhesive systems have been introduced, simplifying procedures by eliminating the need for multiple adhesives and offering options that do not require light curing. This study investigated the bonding performance of universal adhesive systems combined with dual-polymerising resin cements on enamel, dentin, zirconia, lithium disilicate ceramics (LDS), and resin blocks.

[AUGMENTED ONLAY BUCCAL MUCOSAL GRAFT URETEROPLASTY FOR URETERAL STRICTURE: A CASE REPORT].

A 14-year-old boy developed hydronephrosis and worsening renal function due to fibroepithelial polyps of the bladder and left ureter at the age of 12 years. The endoscopic treatment of ureteral polyps was attempted by his previous doctor; however urethral stricture and ureteral stricture developed and was untreatable. Therefore, he was referred to our hospital for further reconstructive treatment.
