Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are responsible for chemoresistance and tumor relapse in many solid malignancies, including lung and ovarian cancer. Ellagic acid (EA), a natural polyphenol, exhibits anticancer effects on various human malignancies. However, its impact and mechanism of action on cancer stem-like cells (CSLCs) are only partially understood.

Digitally-encoded poly(phosphodiesters) (d-PPDE) with highly complex primary structures are evaluated for layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly. To be easily decoded by mass spectrometry (MS), these digital polymers contain many different monomers: 2 coding units allowing binary encryption, 1 cleavable spacer allowing controlled MS fragmentation, and 3 mass tags allowing fragment identification. These complex heteropolymers are therefore composed of 6 different motifs.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted on 48 aromatic rice genotypes across six seasons in West Bengal, India, to analyze the genetic divergence based on ten morphological characters and yield traits.
  • Significant variations were observed in traits like tillers per plant, grains per panicle, and seed yield, indicating their strong positive correlation with overall seed yield.
  • The genotypes were grouped into six clusters, with Cluster III (Tulaipanji, Patnai, Basmati 1121, Jugal, Bahurupi) and Cluster VI (Kanakchur) showing the highest divergence, while specific genotypes like Shakbhati and Sugandhi were highlighted as potential donors for breeding programs due to their advantageous characteristics.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most prevalent age-related neurodegenerative disorders. Behavioral complexities worsen over time due to progressive dopaminergic (DArgic) neuronal loss at substantia nigra region of brain. Available treatments typically aim to increase dopamine (DA) levels at striatum.

The family Myristicaceae harbour mind-altering phenylpropanoids like myristicin, elemicin, safrole, tryptamine derivatives such as N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and 5-methoxy N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) and β-carbolines such as 1-methyl-6-methoxy-dihydro-β-carboline and 2-methyl-6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline. This study aimed to systematically review and propose the hypothetical biosynthetic pathways of hallucinogenic metabolites of Myristicaceae which have the potential to be used pharmaceutically. Relevant publications were retrieved from online databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed Central, Science Direct and the distribution of the hallucinogens among the family was compiled.
