We present a case of an 88-year-old man with symptoms consistent with a urinary tract infection, whose diagnostic workup uncovered a previously unrecognized motile flagellated protozoan. Molecular identification confirmed the organism as Dimastigella trypaniformis, a free-living kinetoplastid from the Rhynchomonadidae family. Known only from soil samples in Scotland and termite gut contents in Australia and Germany, Dimastigella trypaniformis has not been previously reported to infect vertebrate hosts.

To expand our understanding of why and for whom indoor nature exposure increases well-being, the aim of this study was to evaluate vigor as a mediator and to examine whether nature relatedness is a direct antecedent of nature exposure or a moderator of the relationship between exposure to nature and vigor. Based on longitudinal data obtained from a two-wave panel design with white-collar workers in open-plan offices (Study 1, n = 345; Study 2, n = 291), using a rival model strategy and two dependent variables, i.

This study aims to evaluate and quantify the FFP's effect on clubs' financial performance and critically review the regulatory changes introduced by the UEFA in 2022 through the new Financial Sustainability Regulations (FSR).
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted using the Web of Science and Scopus databases up to December 31, 2023, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) statement.
Background: Prolonged field care is a military adaptation of tactical combat casualty care providing extended prehospital management during delayed extrication. Effects of addition of valproic acid (VPA) to fresh-frozen plasma (FFP) in a prolonged field care model of hemorrhagic shock and traumatic brain injury are not known. We hypothesized that VPA is associated with decreased neurological impairment, and its protective changes are detected at the transcriptomic level.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFragile X syndrome (FXS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by Fragile X Messenger Ribonucleoprotein (FMRP) deficiency. Electroencephalogram (EEG) changes in FXS include alterations of oscillatory activity and responses to sensory stimuli, some of which have been back-translated into rodent models by knocking-out the Fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein 1 gene (Fmr1-KO). However, the validity of these EEG phenotypes as objective biomarkers requires further investigation.
