The analysis of cell-free tumor DNA (ctDNA) and proteins in the blood of patients with cancer potentiates a new generation of non-invasive diagnostic approaches. However, confident detection of tumor-originating markers is challenging, especially in the context of brain tumors, where these analytes in plasma are extremely scarce. Here, we apply a sensitive single-molecule technology to profile multiple histone modifications on individual nucleosomes from the plasma of patients with diffuse midline glioma (DMG).

Introduction: The study objective was to describe characteristics and utilization patterns of tirzepatide users with type 2 diabetes (T2D) using the Healthcare Integrated Research Database in the USA.

Methods: Adults (≥18 years) included had T2D diagnosis; ≥1 tirzepatide claim (May 2022-January 2023; first claim date = index date); and continuous medical and pharmacy enrollment during the 6-month baseline and follow-up periods from the index date. Baseline demographics, clinical characteristics, and 6-month follow-up dosing and treatment patterns were summarized descriptively.

Article Synopsis
  • A study investigated the relationship between COVID-19 vaccination and the risk of developing venous thrombosis or embolism (VTE) after infection, particularly examining the impact of booster shots.
  • The research analyzed data from Military Health System beneficiaries who tested positive for COVID-19 between 2020 and 2022, finding that vaccinated individuals had significantly lower odds of developing VTE compared to those unvaccinated.
  • Results indicated that the risk of post-COVID-19 VTE was particularly low during the Omicron variant era, and those receiving booster shots had an even greater reduction in VTE risk.

Even with significant advancements in the treatment modalities for patients with heart failure (HF), the rates of morbidity and mortality associated with HF are still high. Various therapeutic interventions, including cardiac resynchronization therapy, Implantable Cardiovascular-Defibrillators, and left ventricular assist devices, are used for HF management. Currently, more research and developments are required to identify different treatment modalities to reduce hospitalization rates and improve the quality of life of patients with HF.

Unlabelled: Antigen-based rapid diagnostic tests (Ag-RDTs) provide timely results, are simple to use, and are less expensive than molecular assays. Recent studies suggest that antigen-based testing aligns with virus culture-based results (a proxy of contagiousness at the peak viral phase of illness); however, the performance of Ag-RDTs for newer SARS-CoV-2 variants is unclear. In this study, we (i) assessed the performance of Ag-RDTs and diagnostic antibodies to detect a range of SARS-CoV-2 variants and (ii) determined whether Ag-RDT results correlated with culture positivity.
