Iloprost is a synthetic long-acting prostacyclin-analog drug used to treat various vascular diseases. The Federal Drug Administration approved the drug in 2004 for pulmonary arterial hypertension, and it has since been shown to be helpful in other vascular conditions such as scleroderma and Raynaud phenomenon. The Federal Drug Administration has now approved the use of iloprost for severe frostbite.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) represents a potentially severe and infrequent complication that can occur in the pregnant population. The nuance in recognizing and diagnosing this condition can be quite difficult due to the changes that occur during pregnancy. This case highlights the importance of diagnosing pulmonary embolism in pregnancy, classifying the degree of disease, and determining the best treatment for both mother and fetus.

Purpose: Oral treprostinil and selexipag are drugs targeting the prostacyclin pathway and are approved for treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In the setting of unsatisfactory clinical response or tolerability issues while on selexipag, there is little data on clinical benefit, safety, or strategies on transitioning to oral treprostinil. Using prospective data from the ADAPT registry, we aimed to evaluate clinical outcomes, safety, and transition strategies in ten patients with PAH transitioning from selexipag to oral treprostinil.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is highly prevalent and associated with oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, and adverse cardiovascular consequences. The comorbid condition of obesity remains epidemic. Both obesity and OSA are highly comorbid in patients with cardiovascular disease including atrial fibrillation, resistant hypertension, congestive heart failure, and coronary artery disease.
