Type 2 diabetes (T2D) and chronic periodontitis (CP) are common diseases worldwide. Although T2D increases the severity of CP and alveolar bone loss, the mechanism of this is not well understood. We investigated using immunohistochemistry the expression of three osteoclast proteins, TRAF6, cFos and NFATc1, in gingival tissues.

Pharmacotherapeutic values of berberine: A Chinese herbal medicine for the human cancer management.

Berberine (BBR), a traditional Chinese phytomedicine extracted from various parts of Berberis plants, is an isoquinoline alkaloid used for centuries to treat diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, and so forth. It has recently received immense attention worldwide to treat cancer due to its potent pro-apoptotic, antiproliferative, and anti-inflammatory properties. BBR efficiently induces tumor apoptosis, replicative quiescence and abrogates cell proliferation, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, tumor neovascularization, and metastasis by modulating diverse molecular and cell signaling pathways.

Shelf life enhancement of guava ( cv. ) stored under pilot scale modified atmosphere storage system.

The developed modified atmosphere storage (MAS) system has increased the shelf life of Guava up to 20 and 9 days at 10 °C and 25 °C, respectively. This extended period will be very much effective for providing the buffer period to the fresh Guava and facilitate extra time to the farmers for its marketing. The uniquely developed MAS system is helpful for the farmers for on-farm storage of fresh Guava at a large scale and will provide smooth handling and transportation for retailing and marketing.
