Based on the search for new biodegradable materials that are low cost and easy to synthesize by environmentally friendly methods, we report the use of carrageenan membranes (mixture of κ and λ carrageenans) with different concentrations of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs) and Ni/CeO (10 wt % Ni) for the fabrication of a novel fuel cell electrode for the oxidation of ethanol. Each membrane was characterized to determine its physicochemical properties using X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Using impedance spectroscopy (IS), a maximum value of 2.

Aim: To characterize, by means of univariate and multivariate approaches, the T helper (Th)-1 and Th-2 responses during the different phases of tumor immunoediting.

Materials & Methods: We used a multivariate principal component analysis applied to analyze the joint behavior of serum concentrations of IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-10 and IL-4, during the different phases of tumor immunoediting, in CBi/L mice challenged with M-406 mammary adenocarcinoma.

Results & Conclusion: Animals in equilibrium phase showed the widest variations in values of the four cytokines.

Albendazole-β-cyclodextrin citrate (ABZ:C-β-CD) inclusion complex in vivo antiparasitic activity was evaluated in the parenteral phase of Trichinella spiralis infection in mice. An equimolar complex of ABZ:C-β-CD was prepared by spray-drying and tested in CBi-IGE male mice orally infected with L1 infective larvae. Infected animals were treated with 50 or 30mg/kg albendazole, (ABZ) equivalent amounts of the ABZ:C-β-CD complex and non treated (controls).

Background: Cancer immunoediting is a dynamic process composed of three phases: elimination (EL), equilibrium (EQ) and escape (ES) that encompasses the potential host-protective and tumor-sculpting functions of the immune system throughout tumor development. Animal models are useful tools for studying diseases such as cancer. The present study was designed to characterize the interaction between mammary adenocarcinoma M-406 and CBi, CBi- and CBi/L inbred mice lines.

Trichinellosis is a zoonotic disease affecting people all over the world, for which there is no speedy and reliable treatment. Albendazole (ABZ), an inexpensive benzimidazole used in oral chemotherapy against helminthic diseases, has a broad spectrum activity and is well tolerated. However, the low absorption and variable bioavailability of the drug due to its low aqueous solubility are serious disadvantages for a successful therapy.
