Preclinical imaging modalities represent an essential tool to develop a modern and translational biomedical research. To date, Optical Imaging (OI) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are used principally in separate studies for molecular imaging studies. We decided to combine OI and MRI together through the development of a lentiviral vector to monitor the Wnt pathway response to Lithium Chloride (LiCl) treatment.

The standard chemotherapeutic agent, temozolomide, affects GBM cell proliferation but is generally unable to prevent tumor recurrence. Hedgehog pathway activation has been reported to be relevant in GBM and different pharmacological pathway modulators have been identified.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells generally exhibit resistance to apoptosis following treatment with many cytotoxic drugs. The new molecule PRIMA-1 appears to kill human tumor cells by restoring the transcriptional activity to mutated p53.

In A549 cells (p53WT), p53 occupancy at the p21, mdm2, and puma promoters increased significantly after UV irradiation. In contrast, p21 mRNA levels did not change, mdm2 mRNA decreased and both p21 and mdm2 proteins were downregulated shortly after UV.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe broad-range cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 7-hydroxystaurosporine (UCN-01) is known to induce both a G1 cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. The mechanism of UCN-01-induced apoptosis is largely unknown. We analysed the mechanism of cytotoxicity of UCN-01 in four established colon carcinoma cell lines.
